Dawn Keable is a Miami based writer transplanted from the biggest city in the smallest state, right before the start of a global pandemic. (Cue a moment, if there ever was any, for her intense lifelong resilience to shine.) Dawn enjoys exploring topics of culture and lifestyle, usually with humor, as well as a deep commitment to the practices of journalism. Her work has been published in a variety of local and national publications including Newsweek and Seventeen, although her professional highlight remains as restaurant critic for the alt weekly Providence Phoenix.
Dawn is also the author of two novels, Settling Down, humorous women's fiction and Beyond, a powerful work of young adult fiction, currently waaaaaaay ahead of its time. Beyond explores the cycle of inter-generational trauma, with the hopes of healing and demystifying for young people surviving in often toxic situations out of their control, combining the honest deep reflection of the works of Kathleen Glasgow, the smart wit of Rainbow Rowell and solution based practicality of Oprah’s What Happened To You.
When she’s not dreaming up imaginary worlds, Dawn serves as media maven for Funky Photog Inc. (aka her husband André), as well as chief comfort human to their rescue bunny, aptly named Nosey, who magically showed up in the backyard and adopted them. Dawn has also begun to solidify her Miami ‘mi gente’ status thanks to her obsessive appreciation for live salsa music, feeling chilled at 70 degrees and a newfound willingness to break up fights in the doctor’s office. And no, she does NOT miss winter. Only Tony’s Portuguese bolos. The kind with raisins.
